Apple is expected to launch three new laptops and the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
Sources have told Bloomberg that the MacBook Pro will get a faster Intel Kaby Lake processor and the 12-inch MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Air will both get faster processors too.
Apple’s MacBooks account for $216 billion of the company’s annual revenue, around 11%. With the model remaining strong in the marketplace, Apple has decided to make them even more attractive to consumers and will be in retaliation to Microsoft’s latest offering, the Surface laptop, that was launched this month.
It won’t just be the new MacBooks that Apple will be launching.
There is believed to be a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro as well as a Siri-powered smart speaker that will be direct competition for Amazon’s Echo.
Renowned KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that there is “more than 50 percent chance the smart speaker will be unveiled at the conference and more than 70 percent chance the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro will also make an appearance.”
Kuo went on to describe the new iPad as “an all new design” although it will have the same chassis as the 9.7-inch model, but will have a larger screen, similar to the design of the iPhone 8, confidently predicting that Apple will ship around six million of the devices this year alone.
The news of the smart speaker seems to be what has sparked most people’s interest. In order to differentiate themselves from Amazon and Google, Apple would augment its smartphones with the device along with having more advanced microphone and speaker technology.
The new device is predicted to be more expensive than the Amazon Range but will bring Apple’s AI into the home.
