Action camera manufacturer Go Pro will release its HERO6 action cam later this year.
The information came to light as part of the transcript of the company’s fourth quarter earnings report.
The CEO of GoPro, Nick Woodman explained that the new HERO6 would appear “at some point in 2017” along with a range of other new devices and camera accessories.
The company had a troubling time in 2016, reporting a net loss of $116 million which forced the company to close its entertainment division as well as some offices in order to return to profitability. It is obviously hoped that the new HERO6 will provide a large boost to sales.
While no further details regarding the Hero 6 are available, in a recent interview Woodman said the company had been focussing on 360 degree video and virtual reality.
Woodman also confirmed that a range of new Go Pro accessories will also be released in 2017, although it is not clear if these will be for new products or will updated versions of existing kit.
The news comes after Go Pro was forced to relaunch its Karma drone, which was originally recalled due a power loss issue that resulted in some drones falling out of the sky mid flight.
Go Pro says the relaunched drones include a new battery which should resolve the power loss issue.
