3BB is to offer a free one month subscription to its streaming service to customers as a gesture of goodwill after the service suffered major technical issues on Saturday.
3BB’s Monomaxxx media streaming service normally costs 129 Baht for a month and allows users to watch Thai, Chinese, Korean and English movies and TV shows from their computer, smartphone or smart TV.
On Monday, Triple T Internet Co Ltd, 3BB’s parent company, held discussions with Thailand’s telecom regular the NBTC, where it proposed offering a month’s free subscription to customers.
Secretary general Takorn Tantasith confirmed the proposal had been approved, Thairath reported. However, at the time of writing, 3BB was yet to officially confirm the offer.
The move comes after 3BB customers throughout Thailand were unable to access Google websites such as YouTube, Gmail and Search on Saturday due to technical issues.
3BB said the issue was due to “Google system maintenance”.
The technical issue lead to speculation amongst netizens and some Thai news organisations that the government had purposely blocked access to the sites.
However, a spokesperson for the Thai government denied these claims in a statement issued Monday.
