Pokemon Go, the augmented reality mobile game which is has become a global craze is now available to play in more than 30 countries.
However, there is still no information yet on the release of Pokemon Go in Thailand.
On Saturday, the game widened its availability in Europe by launching in 26 new countries. However, shortly after the launch, the game’s servers crashed due to the overwhelming demand.
The game was then launched in Canada on Sunday only to be followed by another server outage, leaving millions of players unable to play the game.
Japan, which is of course the home of Pokemon, was then expected to be the next country where the game would be officially available but makers Niantic have since said the launch there has been postponed until server capacity is able to handle the anticipated huge demand.
Niantic CEO John Hanke told Forbes: “at present, the server capacity in Japan is not powerful enough” but did promise that it would be launched in Japan before the end of July and in a further 200 countries within the next few months.
A thread on Reddit titled Pokemon Go’ Release Status – Asia has been set up so fans can keep track of when the game will be released and is available in Thailand and across Asia. The moderators of the thread say they provide hourly updates from the Pokemon Go community throughout Asia.

Meanwhile, a workaround that meant Pokemon Go fans in Thailand could play the game on iOS and Android, despite the game not being officially released here also seems to have been closed off by makers Niantic, as it tries to secure and consolidate server capacity.
Players of Pokemon Go in Thailand who have an Android phone had up until last weekend been able to download an APK file which meant they could play the game.
iPhone users were also able to play ahead of the official Thailand launch by logging into the App Store of a country where the game had been officially released.
However, both of these options are no longer working for players in Thailand who have reported the servers for the game are currently not available.
While most of Asia is still waiting to play the game, tech site CNET reports that the game is available in Indonesia and has been working there since the game launched, despite not officially being released.
