In order to celebrate the company’s 20th birthday, Amazon will introduce an event called Prime Day, a “global shopping event” that the firm says will have more deals than Black Friday. The deals will be launched at midnight ET on July 15th, but will only be available to Amazon Prime customers in the US, UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria. So much for global, then…
Amazon birthday deals
Amazon has said that new deals will be introduced every ten minutes or so and will come from every product category, from clothes to electronics for example.
The promotion is part of Amazon’s attempts to get shoppers to sign up to Prime membership. The company last month expanded its same day rapid delivery service called Prime Now outside the US. And according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, Prime customers actually spend twice as much as the average Amazon customer does in a full year – $1,500 compared to $625.
In order to get access to all the deals on Prime Day, you won’t have to necessarily even pay for a Prime subscription, as you can sign up for the free 30-day trial before the 15th of July and will still be able to enjoy all the offers.
