Amazon is now offering the Dash Button. Currently an invitation-only product for Prime Members, Dash Button is an attempt to make ordering everyday products easier. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. This is the real deal.
Essentially, Amazon is offering a button that users can press to restock certain household products. Not all products or brands are currently offered.
A user can place a Tide button on their washing machine, for example. When they’re close to running out of Tide Laundry Detergent, they will be able to press the button, and have the product delivered through Amazon. It’s a smart way for Amazon to be even more integrated into a person’s everyday life. It literally takes a click of a button for the transaction to go through.
Safety measures are in place to stop unwanted ordering. First, users will receive an order notification, so they can quickly cancel their order if their child happens to press the button. Also, if a wife hits the button to order Tide and her husband had already hit the button earlier, the second order will not be placed. Only one order can be placed until a delivery is made, so there’s little chance of double ordering.
