There’s now a YouTube app for Android Wear

Everyone probably realises that watching videos and YouTube on a smartwatch would be a terrible video experience, but now though it’s actually possible. Developer Appfour has created a YouTube player for Android Wear that includes search and Chromecast support.

Catching YouTube on your smartwatch would probably be the worst video experience ever, but at least now you can. Developer Appfour’s latest creation is a YouTube player for Android Wear that includes search and Chromecast support.

YouTube comes to Android Wear

It might seem ridiculous, but it’s not the stupidest idea in the world. Video for Android Wear and YouTube allows you to search for videos using your voice and then beam them to your Chromecast-equipped television, so your watch can function as a wrist-based remote control.

And if you don’t mind watching videos on a tiny screen, the app also supports Bluetooth headphones.

Of course there are a few issues, such as how much battery life watching videos on a watch will use up, as most Android Wear watches can only manage a single day on a full charge.

If you have an Android Wear device and want to try out the app, you can download it from the Google Play Store here.
