The Wall Street Journal is again reporting that the launch event for the eagerly anticipated iPhone 8, the 10th anniversary device, will be set for September 12.
While no official invitations have been sent at this stage, an official announcement is expected imminently for the event that is predicted to include the launch of three iPhone devices.
One of the new iPhones is expected include an OLED screen that will be an edge-to-edge screen, similar to that offered on the Samsung S8 although whether it will be curved is open to debate.
The New York Times reported last week that the device will cost US$999 (THB33,000).
Two lower end iPhones will be launch at the same time, one is expected to be similar to the iPhone 7 whilst the second will be the iPhone 7 Plus.
The new Apple Watch is also predicted by some to make an appearance and once again this is a device that that is expected to be pretty impressive and one that can work independently from an iPhone.
Other reports suggest that an Apple TV will also be launched, one can display upper-high-definition 4K resolution.
Apple have high hopes for the iPhone 8 after sales have slowed globally in the last couple of years – mainly due to the fact that they have looked too similar to previous models. The newly redesigned version is expected to spur sales once again, a relief for Apple’s most important device.
Apple said in June that they would be launching a voice controlled HomePod and a new iMac computer that would target professionals rather than social users. Both are expected to be launched by the end of this year.
The news comes after Samsung announced on Tuesday that its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 8, will be available to pre-order in Thailand from 1 Sept and will cost Bt33,900.
