Following its “battery gate” scandal, Apple has slashed the price of out of warranty replacement iPhone batteries for customers in Thailand.

Apple has said that until December 31st 2018 the cost of a replacement iPhone battery will be reduced from 2,900 baht to 1,000 baht.

The reduction in price comes as Apple has been forced to respond to a backlash from customers after it admitted to slowing down older iPhones with flagging batteries.

Apple said it used software updates to improve power management and “avoid unexpected shutdowns on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE.”

Following the revelations, Apple has also said it will issue an update to iOS that will give users more information on battery performance.

Apple’s price cut on replacement batteries and new software features comes after customers in the United States, France and Israel filed lawsuits against the Cupertino firm over the issue.

Apple has said that replacement batteries are available at any iCare branch in Thailand.

The price reduction is available on the following iPhone models:

iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6s / iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone SE
iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus
