ASUS Zenfone Max beats iPhone 6s Plus in battery performance test

It is hard to think of an electronic device that has had more of an impact on our daily lives than the smartphone.

From making a simple call to taking photographs, recording videos, email, Facebook, browsing the Internet, shopping, banking, booking a holiday, monitoring your health… we could go on.

However, despite being more technologically advanced than ever before, it remains a fact that the majority of smartphones cannot get through a full day on a single charge of the battery.

Why is this even the case in 2016!

If the lack of battery life on your current smartphone is a problem, you may want to take a look at the new ASUS Zenfone Max.

Last year’s Asus Zenfone 2 was one of the standout Android devices of 2015 and received rave reviews for its performance, specs and affordability and it looks like Asus could be onto another winner with the Zenfone Max.

The device comes with a whopping 5000mAh battery that is far higher than even the latest flagship offerings from the likes of Samsung , Huawei and LG. In fact, the only phone with a bigger capacity is the Oukitel K10000 with its 10000mAh battery.

To put the phone to the test ASUS decided to challenge the iPhone 6s Plus to a duel. When we say duel we really mean a battle to the death as this was a true battery marathon to see which phone could last the longest. There were no other tests involved and this was just simply a test to see which battery would last the longest.

As ASUS published the results it was obvious that there would only be one winner but the gulf in the result may surprise you.

The battery life of the iPhone 6s Plus was less than 6 hours – 5 hours 31 minutes to be precise whilst the ASUS Zenfone Max carried on long into the night lasting 12 hours and 45 minutes. If this is the way of things to come then Apple need to look into this area and look into it fast.

The challenge involved doing the same things in test conditions. They used the same WiFi network, the display was turned up to full brightness but cellular connectivity was turned off and they played the same YouTube video on playback.

ASUS Zenfone Max is on sale for around 6,490 THB
