Atari finally reveal more details about the new retro inspired VCS console

It’s the news we have all been waiting for after several postponements Atari has finally released details of their games line up and pricing.

The new VCS is Atari’s first attempt at a retro console and will be available for pre-order at the end of May we have been to!

Although the company has revealed several games that will be available, details about what else the console will be capable of being thin on the ground and what details have come to light seem to raise more questions than answers.

Indiegogo will begin accepting pre-orders for the console on the 30th May, for those of you who decide to pre-order you will be given the option either the black Onyx version or the wood-front Collector’s Edition versions of the console. Some options will also include a recreation of the classic joystick, as well as a more modern day controller.

For those of you who take the plunge with a pre-order, you will have quite a wait as according to Atari the console will be shipped out early 2019.

The company has yet to specify an exact price as last year they were quoted as saying $250-300, however, they have stated the Onyx will be available for $199 for a limited period.

The company claims the new console is more “retro-inspired” than a “retro box” which leads us to believe the console won’t be restricted to a certain number of old games, in a recent statement Atari said, you can customise it with “a vast array of games, media and streaming content options,” but no other details were shared on how.

As for the games, well as you would expect these are all Atari retro classics with over 100 titles available including, Asteroids, Centipede, Gravitar, Missile Command, and Breakout. Other notables the new console will also be able to support modern games, as well as 4K resolution, HDR, 60 FPS, and Bluetooth.

When more details are released we will be sure to let you know!
