BMW reveals amazing Motorrad Vision Next 100 bike that can’t fall over

The latest BMW bike looks like something that has come straight from a Sci-Fi movie with the new Motorrad Vision Next 100 not even requiring riders to wear protective gear.

“Its self-balancing system will help protect the rider at any time,” said Edgar Heinrich, the design director of BMW’s motorcycle division. “Any late reaction from the driver will trigger and the vehicle will balance out.”

The theory seems to suggest that you ride the bike in a similar manner to a car without the protective gear such as a helmet or leathers.

“In the future, motorcycle riders will be able to enjoy riding without protective gear,” Heinrich said.

The prototype was unveiled to celebrate BMW’s 100th anniversary and is said to be in a “Tron-style” although it is unlikely to be anything more than a prototype until the 2030’s.

BMW plan to have a fully autonomous car available by 2021. “We do not envision autonomy on motorcycles,” said Heinrich at an event in Santa Monica, California where the bike was revealed.
