It was inevitable. Moments after buying the new iPhone X, some users have already smashed their new $999 smartphone.
One device was shown on Chinese social media site, Weibo, complete with a large crack to the display. A man can be heard joking about the smashed phone: ‘Does it look better now? It’s more unique, haha.’
It seems that the new device was dropped just hours before it was due to go on sale. According to IT 168, the device’s other functions still worked, it was just the display that was cracked.
Another tech blogger posted pictures of his damaged iPhone X. Cracks can be seen coming from the bottom left corner. At least three people in China claimed to have smashed their iPhone X
Another iPhone X owner, Ba Hao Wan Zi Jiang, posted on Weibo images of her silver device that had cracks emerging from the bottom corner. Just five hours later, Huang Xiaowen post images of his device, which he proudly claimed was the “first iPhone X that had been cracked in the world.”

It is expected that a new screen for the iPhone X will cost in the region of THB9,000
The glass material used on an iPhone X is the same as that of an iPhone 8. It has been described as ‘super strong’ by Philip W. Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing of Apple.
Mr Schiller also said during the phone’s presentation in September: “This glass is the most durable ever seen in a smartphone.
In reality, we all know that if glass is dropped, deliberately or otherwise, there is a good chance that it is going to break.
With that being said, some people have been dropping the iPhone X intentionally.
Chinese tech blogger Eddy Cheng bought the new iPhone and intentionally dropped it in order to see how durable it is. And according to this video, it fared surprisingly well.
