Thailand Mobile Expo, one of the largest technology events in Southeast Asia, gets underway in Bangkok this coming Thursday.
First launched in 2007, Thailand Mobile Expo provides a comprehensive preview of the very latest in consumer tech for the upcoming year.
Thailand Mobile Expo features the latest smartphones, tablets and wearables from leading manufacturers who use the event as a springboard to launch new products in Thailand.
According to organisers M Vision, last years event was attended by over 700,000 visitors and generated a total sales revenue of more than 1.5 billion Baht.
Speaking about the event, Mr.Opas Cherdpunt, managing director of M Vision Co.,Ltd said that “Since the end of last year, mobile phone brands started launching new model of smartphone into the market preparing for the first quarter of year 2015. I think mobile phone market will have a great start this year due to the sales volume and number of participants in the last year event and I also believe there is a positive sign that the market is continuously growing. With the social network trend together with the releasing of low price with good specification and 64 bit processing chip smartphone, entry and middle level users are interested more in smartphone.
“So our company decided to arrange the 20th “Thailand Mobile Expo 2015” to gathering all well-known smartphone and tablet brands for consumers to experience and trial new trends as well as catch up with the latest technology before making purchasing decision. Moreover, there will be gadget and wearable zone which is one of the most popular zone for IT and health lover. And this time the highlighted item will be on Smart Watch which not only can connect and sync data but also have body and exercise measurement. Another highlight is Drone or an unmanned aircraft which can control from remote control and smartphone. It could be used with a camera taking high view photo as we have seen from news and documentary program,” Mr Opas added.
This year’s event will be used to launch a total of 77 new smartphones, the most notable of which is the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, which will be officially unveiled in Thailand for the first time.
Other devices rumoured to be showcased at the Mobile Expo include the LG G Flex 2, which recently received rave reviews when it was launched at CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
It is also expected that Garmin will showcase its new VIRB 1080p action camera and you’ll also be able to take a look at the new Inspire 1 drone by DJI, which boasts a 12 megapixel camera and is capable of shooting 4K video.
Away from smartphones and gadgets, Thailand Mobile Expo also includes areas for sales of hardware and mobile accessories such as headphones, speakers, cases and batteries, and there is also a clearance zone for anyone interested in picking up a bargain.

Thailand Mobile Expo will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok from Feb 12-15 from 10am to 8pm.
