Facebook wants to become your new virtual tour guide and help you find the best of what a city has to offer.
On Friday it was revealed the social media giant is adding a new feature to its iOS app.
Called City Guides, the new feature gives you recommendations for places to visit and things to do so you can plan your travel itinerary when visiting a city.
The new feature means that you can plan your trip without ever needing to leave the Facebook app to use other services like Yelp, Foursquare or Trip Advisor.
City Guides taps into the Recommendations feature recently rolled out by Facebook where your friends can suggest places they have enjoyed visiting.
First spotted by TNW, Facebook started testing City Guides in January but has now made it available to iOS users who can access it by tapping on Explore and scrolling to City Guides.
The feature then offers up information on locations that your friends may have checked into when visiting a particular city.
When you tap on a city, you are then presented with the current weather conditions, time and suggestions of places from your Facebook friends.
The type of places featured include restaurants, bars, parks, popular attractions and other places of interest.
Facebook also displays info from locals so you can get tips on places from people who actually live there.
Tap on a location and Facebook will give you more information on it including reviews, photos, videos and even information on upcoming events, with the option to book tickets direct from the Facebook app.
Facebook has begun rolling out City Guides to iOS users, although there is no info when or if the feature will be available on Android.
