Google’s designed for families Google Play store program was first rumoured in mid-May, and now Google officially announced it will add family-focused features to its play store at the Google I/O conference. Now, there’s a new section called “New Family Fun” showing up in the Play Store.
Google Play adds Family category
The new Family app category shows only apps that have been approved by a special hand-picked selection process, unlike most other sections. The top section of the store features apps that are on Google Play, and the second is a New & Popular list, plus there’s a “Spotlight on Disney” section, a section with apps sorted by character, and much more…
If you have children that use your Android tablet or smartphone, it should make it easier to find and install apps that are more appropriate based on the age of your child. The sections in the new section show apps such as Minecraft, to Lego Star Wars, as well as more creative apps for drawing and painting. The Popular Characters section includes apps that are sorted by “Dora the Explorer”, “Elmo”, “Peppa Pig”, and more.
It’s obviously a welcome move by Google to make it easier to find great apps in the Play Store. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.
