At an event in Singapore last week, Samsung announced the launch dates for the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagship smartphones across Asia.
The launches happen on eight separate dates throughout April – starting with its global debut on April 10, and cover much of the continent.
Galaxy S6 launch dates across Asia
Here are the dates in full:
- April 10 – Australia, Myanmar, Singapore, Taiwan
- April 11 – Vietnam, New Zealand
- April 12 – Cambodia
- April 13 – Indonesia
- April 17 – Malaysia
- April 18 – Philippines
- April 20 – Thailand
- April 24 – Laos
The other dates that were already known include mainland China on the 10th of April, and Hong Kong on the 20th of April.
The new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been met with very favourable reviews, despite the lack of a removable battery and SD card, but they still face a massive challenge in Asia, as the iPhone 6 appears to have cornered the market for high-end devices, and new Chinese companies like Xiaomi are competing heavily on price.
Samsung needs its two new flagship phones to be a sizeable hit, if it’s going to continue to remain one of the world’s most popular and profitable smartphone manufacturers.
