GoPro has just launched a new and smaller version of its popular Hero 4 camera that’s smaller and lighter than other cameras in the Hero 4 range.
The Hero 4 Session is smaller than the company’s other cameras, but it still works with current GoPro mounts, when it goes on sale this week for around $399.

The camera is able to capture video in 1080p HD at 60 fps, 720p at 100 fps, or 1440p at 30 fps. Pretty good specs for a camera this small and light.
The GoPro brand is of course considered rugged and can withstand quite a lot of punishment, so it’s no surprise the the Session is waterproof to around 33 feet. The company says that the Session camera doesn’t require a separate waterproof case (unlike the regular GoPro cameras) and that also has the added benefit of making the audio quality clearer (though who wants to record audio underwater?).
There are also dual mics, and the camera will automatically switch between them to reduce wind noise. The GoPro Hero 4 Session also has just a single button – with short and long presses used to activate different modes. And just like other models, more features are available using the GoPro app and Smart Remote.
