Google Maps now lets you share lists of your favourite locations with friends

Google has introduced a handy new feature to Maps that allows you to create lists of your favourite locations and share them with your friends.

The new feature, which is available on both Android and iOS, is meant to help you if are at a loss of where to go to grab something to eat or for a place to visit.

You can add a particular location or venue to a list by tapping on the chosen venue and hitting ‘Save’, where it is then automatically added one of a number of pre set list such as ‘Favorites’ and ‘Want to Go’.

As well as the pre set lists, you can also add your own lists by visiting the Your Places section in the main Google Maps menu.

“Because sharing is caring, we made it easy to share lists like “Best Views in SF” via text, email, social networks and popular messaging apps,” Google said in a blog post.

“Whenever friends and family come to town, tap the share button to get a link and start flexing your local knowledge muscles. Once you send a link to your out-of-towners, they can tap ‘Follow’ to pull up the list from Your Places whenever they need it.”

Google said the new feature will be available to Maps users within the next few days.

The Lists feature is the latest in a number of updates to Google Maps in recent weeks.

Last week, Google Maps introduced the option to display real time traffic info, bringing you the latest information on how to avoid traffic jams and congestion during your journey.

Google also quietly rolled out a new ‘Popular Times’ feature that tells you how busy a place is, including whether it is busier than normal during the times you intend to visit.
