Google Play reveals most downloaded apps, movies and music of 2014

With 2014 drawing to a close, Google has released information on what apps, movies, films, games and music have been popular with users of the Google Play store this year.

As you might expect, one of the most downloaded apps is Facebook, with other apps such as Duolingo, Netflix and TripAdvisor also proving popular. Health and fitness proved to be the fastest growing category in 2014.

It probably also wont come as a surprise to find out the most downloaded game of 2014 was Candy Crush Saga, closely followed by Don’t Tap the White Tile, the title of which gives you a pretty good idea what this game is about.

As for movies and TV, Frozen and The Walking Dead topped the list for most downloaded video content, while songs from Katy Perry and Iggy Azalea featured highly on the list for top music artists.

Some of the most read content from Google’s Newsstand include 10 Most Miserable Cities in America and 50 More Awesome Facts (About Everything), with the most popular news source being the New York Times.
