GoPro’s new Karma drone has only just been launched but the company has now issued a recall.
The reason for the recall is that the renowned action camera company has noticed that a small number of drones have been dropping out of the sky – which is obviously not what they are intended to do!
“We discovered that in a small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation,” GoPro announced on their website.
“We are investigating the issue and working in close coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration.”
The drone was unveiled on the same day as the latest Hero action cameras were launched – October 28, but perhaps wisely, the company isn’t taking any chances and requesting that all drones, even those that seem to be functioning normally be sent back.
“Even though your Karma appears to be working fine, we are asking all customers to immediately stop using the product and participate in the recall,” the company said.
The drone isn’t cheap with it expected to start in the region of THB40,000 going up to well over THB50,000 if you buy it with a camera included.
The drone is not available in Thailand yet and we await news on if and when it will be released here.
More information on the recall can be found on GoPro’s official site.
