Handy new Google Calendar update is great news for iPhone users

iPhone and iPad users can now keep track of important events thanks to the new Today widget that has been released by Google designed to help users stay on top of busy schedules.

The feature shows the next two events in your diary when you simply swipe right from the home screen or lock screen.

The widget has been available from the App Store since July 6 via Google Calendar, version 2.4.0 and it is the first time that Google Calendar has released a widget for iOS.

If you select the Show More button in the top righthand corner you will be able to reveal another two upcoming events.

These needn’t necessarily be on the same day, just the next events in your calendar.

If you think that this feature could be useful for you, you need to make sure you have installed the latest version of the Calendar app on iOS.

Once you have done this, you can add it by swiping right on the Home screen and selecting the Edit button.

For iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 users, the preview can also be accessed by using the 3D Touch gesture on the Google Calendar icon. You then need to push down on the Google Calendar Home screen icon.

The new feature was announced on Twitter by a Google spokesperson who said: “Get your day at a glance, right from your homescreen thanks to our new Today widget for iOS.”
