Staff working at Google UK earned an average salary of £160,000 GBP last year, according to accounts released by the company.
The revelation on UK staff salaries comes after the tech giant has been heavily criticised for not paying enough tax in the United Kingdom.
Google is accused of routing nearly £4.6 billion of funds earned through sales in the UK through a maze of accounts in other countries which include Ireland, the Netherlands and Bermuda in order to pay less tax in the UK, it has been claimed.
Accounts from Google show that the company paid its UK based staff £562 million in salaries over an 18 month period, which included 148 million in share bonuses. This means that the average salary of a Google employee in the UK, pro-rata over a 12 month period is £160,000, about 8,132,640 THB
Google had previously claimed that its offices in the UK, which employs more than 2,300 people, were only a small part of its global operations. However, critics have said that generous average salary earned by its UK staff in 2015 contradicts that claim.
Earlier this week, Google agreed to pay £130 million in back taxes to the UK government.
However, this also came in for much criticism when it was revealed the company had effectively paid 2.77% in corporation tax on its profits, compared to the standard 20% paid by most British businesses.
