Google has updated its flight comparison tool, adding a new feature that will help you save money when booking flights.
Google Flights works in the same way as the likes of Skyscanner, Last Minute or GoCompare.
However, its new update not only helps to find the cheapest airfare possible for your trip, but it also offers pointers on how much you should expect to pay and lets you know if there is a cheap route.
If also allows you to bookmark a flight and will then notify you when it expects that flight to either increase or decrease in price.
Google Flights product manager Nabil Naghdy announced the update in a blog post earlier this week.
“Google Flights can now help you be more confident that you’re booking your flight at the right time to get the best price. We now show you when prices are expected to increase for some specific flights and routes you’re interested in”, explained Nabil.
“If you’re looking at a certain route like New York to San Diego, but haven’t selected a specific flight yet, you may see a notification bar with multiple tips showing how to find the best price for this route.”
“Tips can include things like recommendations for alternate airports or dates.
“You may also see a new tip telling you about an expected price jump based on historic prices for that route. When you tap on the card, you’ll see more details like how much the price is likely to increase and when.”
Google Flights doesn’t yet have its own app yet but the update has made some improvements to using the tool from a mobile device.
The update to Google Flights comes after the tech giant launch Google Trips, a mobile app which helps you to plan your holiday.
