Huawei (pronounced Wha-Way) has unveiled its version of the tablet-laptop hybrid that is intended to pit it wits against such models as Apples’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface 4 Pro.
The Huawei Matebook has a 12 inch IPS display and comes complete with a detachable keyboard that will turn the device into a fully functioning laptop that runs Windows 10 Home or Professional to suit your own requirements.
Once of the stand out features of the Matebook is the fact that it is considerably lighter than the iPad Pro weighing in at just 640g compared to 713g for the Apple model. Although it is slim it doesn’t lose out when it comes to the spec.
The Matebook houses the sixth generation Intel Core M which runs up to 3.1GHz which is quite impressive. There are a range of models with those at the lower end running the M3 and M5 processors with 4GB and 8GB of RAM with the top of the range model running with an M7 chip and 8GB of memory. Storage space in the models is 128GB, 256GB and 512GB respectively.
The Huawei Matebook has another very interesting feature, the single-touch fingerprint sensor that allows up to 10 users to log into their personal Windows accounts.
The Matebook is certainly not one of the cheapest models on the market with the basic model rolling in at $699, approx 25,000 THB and the top end model cost a hefty $1,599, approx. 57, 000 THB so it will be interesting to see how the market will react to this new kid on the block.
It certainly faces some stiff competition but the spec and features maybe the Matebook’s saving grace.
