Iconic Blackberry keyboard phone set to return for one last time

The last ever Blackberry mobile-device is expected to make an impressive farewell after the Canadian manufacturer decided to cease production after this model.

The new device looks very impressive in the leaked photos with its very bold new design.

The images appeared on the Chinese social media site Weibo, and are believed to show the Blackberry Mercury smartphone.

The device falls into the “mid-range” bracket and has a 4.5 inch touchscreen but also has the iconic QWERTY keyboard – something that was confirmed by John, the Blackberry CEO earlier this year.

The device is said to feature an octa-core Qualcomm processor, have 3GB of RAM, an 18MP rear facing main camera and a 3,200mAh battery. The device is also expected to run Android Nougat.

The company is increasing focusing efforts on the East as well as looking more into software and security practices after seeing their share of the global smartphone market largely swallowed up by Apple, Samsung and more recently Huawei, although the company has always managed to maintain a strong presence both in India and Indonesia.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen confirmed that the company will be releasing its last device but did not provide any specific details.
