Is this the new Amazon Kindle? Images of Kindle Oasis leak online

Ahead of the the anticipated release of Amazon’s new high end Kindle, several images reportedly showing a radically redesigned Kindle e-reader have leaked online.

Images of the all new Kindle Oasis were spotted after a listing, which has since been taken down, was posted on the website of Chinese retailer TMall.

The images show a wedge shaped design which can be flipped for easy use by either a right or left hander, as well as built in battery and additional page turn buttons down the side of the screen.

The Kindle Oasis also reportedly includes an accelerometer which allows the screen to rotate 180 degrees.

According to the leaked images, Amazon has said it will not be commenting on, the Kindle Oasis is more than 20 percent lighter than previous models, weighing in at just 131 grams and is just 3.4 millimeters at its thinnest point.

The Kindle Oasis will be Amazon’s eight generation of e-reader, with its predecessor, the Kindle Voyage being released back in October 2014.

Jeff Bezos, chief executive of Amazon, recently revealed on Twitter that a new “top of the line” e-reader would be launch sometime in mid April.

Following up on the Tweet from Jeff Bezos, the Wall Street Journal also reported that the new “higher end Kindle” will include a rechargeable protective case which is said to offer improvements in performance and battery life, which sounds similar to details leaked on the Chinese retail site.

A translation of the text reportedly reveals that the battery on the new Amazon Kindle will offer an impressive 20 months of standby time.

Motherboard.com also notes that url kindleoasis.com is registered to Brilliance Pubslishing, Inc., which is a subsidy of Amazon.
