Land Rover launches ‘world’s toughest smartphone’

Land Rover has launched a new smartphone which it says is the ‘toughest phone in the world’.

The Android powered device, which takes its inspiration from Land Rover’s 4×4 vehicles, is designed to withstand use in the most extreme of environments.

It even comes with a 4,000mAh battery which Land Rover says will last for two full days.

The phone is protected by an outer case that can protect the phone from being submerged in fresh and saltwater up to depths of 1.8 metres.

Even extreme temperatures aren’t enough to stop the phone from working, Land Rover says.

It can also handle thermal shock and intense vibrations and even when wet the 5 inch screen can still be controlled giving you easy access to the compass, weather information, maps and torch.

“This is the smartphone we’d all like to own – a perfect combination of design and functionality that embodies the Land Rover DNA and enables customers to be outdoors for longer, with the confidence to go further,” said Joe Sinclair, Director of Branded Goods and Licensing at Jaguar Land Rover.

The phone also comes with a range of optional extras including an additional 3,600mAh battery pack, a protective case and steel carabiner.

The Land Rover Explore phone will go on sale in April and will cost around $580 or 26,000 baht.

It will be officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress which is being held in Barcelona next week.
