LG releases Disney Mobile smartphones in Japan

LG has just released a collection of Disney Mobile smartphones on Japanese mobile operator DoCoMo. The Disney Mobile series, called the DM-01G is the 9th Disney device created by LG, offering five different Disney themes and user interfaces such as Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, Alice in Wonderland, Frozen and Little Mermaid.

Disney Mobile phones available now

The Mickey Mouse model comes with a Swarovski crystal decoration and a Mickey Mouse icon moving in various modes. Users can check on the weather, music, and other real time service even when the cover is closed. More than thirty thousand Disney-themed items are included in the phone, such as emoticons, background themes, and games, which can be played for free.

The new phone range features a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display, with laser auto focusing featuring in the camera, as well as the ability to take selfies by making a fist gesture. It is also water resistant to IP67 certification, and includes an NFC chip for wireless payments.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM, it’s a fairly powerful mid-tier phone that also comes with a 13 Megapixel camera and a 2,900 mAh battery.

The range of Disney Mobile phones come in three colour options such as blue, white and pink, mainly targeted at Japanese female consumers.

Cho Jun-ho, president and CEO of mobile communications company at LG, said the collaboration is significant in that a Japanese telecom company, a global cultural content producer, and a global manufacturer joined to create the Disney Mobile range.

Whether these phones will see the light of day outside Japan is unknown, though they may be something that would appeal to other Asian consumers.
