Microsoft has announced it is testing a new feature that lets Windows 10 users access content on their smartphone without touching it.
The new featured called Your Phone allows users to access their smartphone directly from their PC.
Microsoft said Your Phone, which works by providing a mirror of the user’s smartphone to the their PC, will soon be available for testing to users of the Windows Insider Programme later this week.
It will be available on both Android and iOS devices, Microsoft said, and will offer access to photos, text messages and notifications.
Microsoft says the new feature will allow users to quickly access content on their PC without having to pick up their smartphone.
The tech giant said it wants to make it easier for users to work across multiple device and introduce “better blending” between the web and apps.
“A new ‘Your Phone’ experience that enables a window into a user’s phone right from their PC for instant access to text messages, photos and notifications”, a spokesperson for Microsoft said.
“Imagine being able to quickly drag and drop your phone’s photos into a document on your PC in one swift movement – without having to take your phone out of your pocket. ‘Your Phone’ will begin to roll out in the Windows Insider Program soon”
Microsoft is in the process of rolling out its Windows 10 April update to users around the globe.
Your Phone wont be ready to be included in that update but it could feature in the next major update to Windows 10, codenamed Redstone 5, which is due later this year.
