Motorola announces 5.7-inch Moto X Style smartphone

On Monday’s global event, Motorola not only unveiled its new Moto G Android phone, but also an update to its flagship device, the Moto X Style.

And just like previous versions, the new model will be just as customisable as the last ones. However, this year the focus is a bit more on powerful specifications – the 2015 version has a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a 21 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixels front camera with a flash. And unlike last year’s model which had a ring shaped flash on the back, Motorola has opted for dual LED flash just below the lens this time around.

Why is the device so powerful? For starters, it’s got a 1.8 GHz 6-core Snapdragon CPU, paired with 3 GB of RAM and starts at 16 GB of storage expandable to 64 GB as unlike some of the company’s lower end models it does come with a microSD card slot.

The Moto X Style runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1 with no bloatware or skins on top. Motorola unsurprisingly calls it the Pure Edition phone and it’ll come unlocked so you can use it on any mobile network.

Motorola says the device can hold more than 10 hours of juice in just 15 minutes of charge – that’s 50% faster than Samsung’s Galaxy S6. And it has a 3,000 mAh battery powering everything.

The Moto X Style costs $399 and will be available in September, available on, and online retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy. There’s no word yet on an Asian or Thai release date, but we’ll keep you posted if we hear more.
