The wait is finally over.
After months of rumours and speculation, Samsung has finally unveiled its two new flagship smartphones, which are the latest additions to its Galaxy series.
The stunning Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were showcased, as expected, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Sunday, with JK Shin, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics saying: “we are sharing with you the results from the most significant team effort in this company’s history.”
Samsung’s President also proudly announced that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has the “world’s first curved display on both sides.”
The new phones have been given an official global release date of April 10th, and should be available to buy in Thailand shortly after.
Both devices will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.
Gone are the plastic cases, replaced by a sleek metal frame, which are available in a variety of different colours including Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum, Green Emerald (S6 Edge only) and Blue Topaz (S6 only).

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both feature a Super AMOLED 5.1 inch Quad HD display (1440×2560 pixels) with a pixel density of 577ppi, with the only difference being that the Galaxy S6 Edge has a curved dual edge display.
According to Samsung, S6 and S6 Edge will include the world’s first octa core 14nm mobile processor with 64 bit capacity, UFS 2.0 flash memory which offers high performance, improved memory speed and lower power consumption and the new LPDDR4 memory system.
Both handsets run Android Lollipop 5.0 and are powered by Samsung’s Exynos eight core chip (quad-core 2.1GHz and quad-core 1.5GHz) with 3GB of RAM.
The rear facing camera boasts 16MP and also includes LED flash and optical image stabilization in addition to the 5MP front facing camera. As is normally the case with Samsung cameras, there are a myriad of features included such as auto real-time HDR, quick launch, low light video, f/1.9, high clear zoom, slow mo, fast mo, selective focus and pro mode so users can expect to take excellent quality photos.
Carried over from the Samsung Galaxy S5, the new devices also include fingerprint scanning.
As reported previously, Samsung’s new premium handsets include less of its bloatware and come with a range of Microsoft apps pre installed including Microsoft OneDrive, which offers users 115GB of free storage space for 2 years and Microsoft OneNote.
With regards to connectivity, both handsets, support LTE Cat.6, which is capable of 300Mbps download speeds.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 2550mAh battery, whilst the S6 Edge features a 2600mAh battery, which Samsung says charges 1.5 times quicker than the Samsung Galaxy S5 and can provide about ‘4 hours of usage after only 10 minutes of charging.’ Both devices also support wireless charging.
Samsung also announced that Samsung Pay will debut of the S6 and S6 Edge in the United States later in 2015.
