Online hacktivist group Our Mine has announced another high profile victim.
On Wednesday the group announced it had hacked the Twitter account of Netflix.
“Netflix is hacked! #DramaAlert #OurMine #netflix Note: we are just testing your security, contact us to help with your security, Thanks”, read a Tweet from the Twitter account for Netflix US.
The online streaming giant promptly deleted the tweet and confirmed it was working to resolve the situation, but not before a series of other tweets that included the hashtag #OurMine also appeared.
The hack seems to only have affected the US Twitter account of Netflix and not any others. It is also believed that all user data and the main Netflix website is unaffected by the hack.
Security activist group Our Mine has claimed a number of high profile victims in recent months. Earlier this year the group said it hacked the online accounts of Forbes and BuzzFeed, as well as those of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
Unlike other hackers, OurMine normally doesn’t wreak havoc after gaining access to online accounts. Instead it provides feedback and encourages people and organisations to improve their online security by buying its security consulting services.
