It seems that you can get smart everything these days, smartphones, smartwatches, smart TVs and even smart refridgerators, so should we really be surprised that you can now get smart condoms?
The i.Con Smart Condom monitors your sexual performance in the form of the number of thrusts, number of calories burnt and the duration of intercourse and can relay the information back to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
According to its official website, the ‘device’ uses a nano-chip and sensors to check on your performance and can even compare your stats with others around the world.
Despite the name, the item is not actually a condom, instead it is a ring that fits around the base of the condom and can be reused.
“It is extremely comfortable, water resistant and lightweight, you won’t even know it’s there ensuring maximum pleasure and, peace of mind,” according to its manufacturers.
Adam Leverson, lead engineer on the i.Con project, said: “Not only have we innovated the world’s first smart condom ring that’ll measure pretty much every aspect of performance in the bedroom, but now I’m pleased to confirm that it will also have built-in indicators to alert the users to any potential STIs present.”
When your i.Con needs charging, you can just plug it into the mains or your computer as it comes complete with a micro USB port.
The i.Con is expected to be released later this year and is currently in the final stages of testing.
