OPPO employs new strategies for the first quarter with the introduction of OPPO R9s to win a bigger market share and upgrade brand image as a premium brand.
Under the brand revamp, the company will offer a more sophisticated design and top-notch functions to target medium- to high-end consumers.
The brand also has a plan for online and offline marketing in order to win a bigger market share in 2017.
OPPO began its business in Thailand eight years ago. Ranked No.4 in the global smartphone market, OPPO picked Thailand as the first foreign market.
This year, OPPO Thailand will release OPPO R9s, based on the successful F1 Plus which was launched last year.
International Data Corporation (IDC), premier global provider of market intelligence, unveiled that in 2016, OPPO’s global sale was 99.4 million units worldwide, a 132.9 per cent increase from the previous year. In Thailand, OPPO is No.3 in the mobile phone market (source: GFK). Its strategy is to design products based on consumer needs.
OPPO R9s has a striking design, with 74.3 mm width, 16mp front and rear cameras, Sony IMX398 sensor that Sony developed exclusively for OPPO. With this sensor and an extra-wide F1.7 aperture, the camera offers phenomenal focusing speed.
Users are able to take pictures of the same quality as using a professional camera. This function caters to the lifestyle of the modern consumers who like to share content on the go.
Chanon Jirayukul, sales director of OPPO Thailand, said that OPPO had prepared a budget for public relations and marketing for R9s, which is a bigger budget than other models. We have advertising plans for TV, radio, print, online, and out of home media.
OPPO has chosen Lee Min Ho as the presenter of R9s in order to target the consumers and present a premium position. We have prepared activities, workshops and roadshows to reach out to our customers and attract new customers in Bangkok and other provinces. We project that the R9s will be as successful as the F1s last year.”
Highlights of OPPO R9s include upgraded ColorOS 3.0, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor, a 4GB RAM, 64GB storage expandable by an additional 256GB, Dual PDAF technology making for 40 per cent faster focus speeds even in low light, VOOC Flash Charge 5-minute charging for 2-hour talking time, an advanced solid-state fingerprint reader, and ultra-fine Six-String antenna lines for 4G and wi-fi signals.
The phone is only 6.58mm thick and weighs only 147 grams, available in gold and rose gold, equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen which protects the phone against damage even when dropped from a height. OPPO R9s retails for Bt14,990, available from March 11 onward.
