Pokémon Go was only launched just over a week ago but has already become one of the biggest apps of all time.

The latest data from Google was released earlier this week and it showed that there were more searches for the term “Pokémon Go” than there were for “porn”.

The Google Trends website which tracks popular queries and allows users to search to compare the popularity of two rival search terms noted the changes.

The website showed that there was a spike in search queries on the Wednesday when Pokémon was released in both Australia and New Zealand and a further rise when it was released in the States towards the end of the week.

On Monday searches for “Pokémon Go” outstripped “porn” by 33%. These spikes tend to suggest that the game is enjoying a continued rise in popularity even though international launches have been delayed to ease the pressure on its servers.

Further figures that came from Sensor Tower; a mobile data company showed that the game had managed to overtake Facebook when it came to time spent on the app.

The figures showed a marked difference with average US users spending 22 minutes a day on Facebook whilst 33 minutes a day was spent on Pokémon Go. For interest, users spend 18 minutes a day on Snapchat.

The app has already been downloaded by millions of gamers despite only officially being available in the US, New Zealand, Australia and Germany. The game is a partnership between Niantic, the game developer for Nintendo and the Pokémon company and is believed to be making $1.6million a day from iPhone users in the US alone.

This has resulted in Nintendo’s shares rising by 50% since the games introduction.
