Polyvore is one of the most popular style communities on the web. While the site has its own standalone mobile app, the company released yet another app today called Remix. Remix is designed to provide users with style advice and the ability to shop for items they love.
What’s interesting about Remix is that it’s not geared towards users who create outfits for themselves, but rather, for users that prefer to use Polyvore to get inspiration from other users’ outfit creations. With Remix, you can see what’s trending on Polyvore, buy items and get styling advice without ever having to leave the app.
Like other online communities, Polyvore has more “lurkers” than “creators”. Of the site’s 20 million monthly users, only about 5% actually create outfits. Remix targets the larger “lurker” user base.
At launch, Remix will have a simple interface and three sections: Find, Trending and My Faves. When users first open the app, they’ll land on the Trending section, which will regularly update with new trending outfits on Polyvore.
The Find section lets users search for products by category (i.e. dresses, bags, shows, etc.), price, brand, color, store and a host of other factors. The final section, My Faves, lets you view the items you’ve saved on Polyvore, both the desktop and mobile app versions of the site.
Of course, the best feature the app has to offer is “remix” (like its name). When viewing an outfit, you can press the “remix” button and see your outfit styled in a new way.
As of right now, Remix is being launched through invitation only, so be on the lookout for its broader launch in the near future.
