The Retro Freak console is every every middle-aged video game fanatic’s dream.
Unveiled at the recent Computex event held in Taiwan, this magical little box lets you play pretty much every single one of your favourite classic video games.
The Retro Freak, whilst turning up its nose at copyright laws, is a clever little device that will enable you to play all the old games cartridges you used to love at home and even comes complete with a 1980’s style controller.
The specs which certainly weren’t around in the 1980’s include HDMI connectivity, 1280 x 720 pixel upscaling, a display filter that smooths out pixelated graphics and a saving facility using an SD card.
The device supports games for Gameboy, NES, SNES, Sega Megadrive, Sega Genesis, Turbo Grafx-16, PC Engine and PC Engine Super Grafx games. All that is required is that you pop the games in and enjoy a real arcade experience!
A lot of claims are made in the Retro Freak brochure although a lot of these are yet to be proved on the world stage with demonstrations tending to be quite short.
The device is slowly being released across Asia at a price of 20,000 yen (approx THB6,150) with global distribution reportedly coming soon.
It appears that everyone will return to the days of playing Mario Kart tournaments, just this time in front of wide screen, full HD television!
