Just hours away from the official launch of the Galaxy S9 a monumental leak has meant that Samsung’s new flagship smartphone has been revealed in all of its glory.
The leak, a result of a monumental cock up by someone at Samsung, shows off the new handset less than 24 hours before its official unveiling on Sunday evening at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
On Saturday the official promotional video for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus was on the Samsung YouTube channel and then abruptly taken down, only for the video to be reuploaded by SlashLeaks.
The big takeaway from the video is that all the previous leaks for the Galaxy S9 appear to be true.
The new handsets are shown along with the “The Phone. Reimagined” tagline that Samsung revealed earlier this month.
Interestingly however, Samsung is promoting the business capabilities of the Galaxy S9, touting its new Knox security, as well as Android Enterprise Edition, with improved dual screen multitasking. It also reveals the option to link up the S9 to a keyboard and monitor to use as a desktop PC.
Other things highlighted is the new dual sensor setup on the camera on the Galaxy S9 Plus, as well as the dust and water resistant capabilities.
Also revealed is the Intelligent Scan facial recognition features and the option to scan and translate words on the fly.
The video however doesn’t reveal any pricing or specification details.
Earlier this week, serial tech tipster Evan Blass, who has an excellent track record when it comes to revealing details about tech products ahead of an official launch revealed pricing of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
According to Blass, the Galaxy S9 will start at €841, while the Galaxy S9+ will start at €997.
That’s approximately 33,000 baht for the Galaxy S9 and 38,600 for the S9+.
By comparison the Galaxy S8 currently starts at 24,900 baht and the S8+ at 27,900 baht.
