People in Thailand will be among the first in the world to get their hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Following its unveiling at Mobile World Congress 2018, Samsung has confirmed that customers in Thailand can pre-order the new smartphones from 10.30am on 27 February to 5 March.
Pre-orders can be made at Samsung stores or from Thailand’s three telecoms companies, Truemove, Dtac and AIS. You can also order the phones online from the Samsung website or on Lazada.
Pre-orders can then be picked up by customers between 9-11 March, before the handsets go on general sale on 16 March.
Prices for the new handsets are as follows:
Galaxy S9 64GB – 27,900 Baht
Galaxy S9+ 64GB – 31,900 Baht
Galaxy S9+ 128GB – 33,900 Baht
There is also a 256GB version of the S9+ which will retail for 37,900 Baht but that isn’t available to collect until 29th-31st March.
Each of Thailand’s telecoms companies are offering their own promotions with some discounts and extras, such as a wireless charging station, given to existing customers.
The S9 and S9+ are already arguably the smartphones to beat this year, with early reviews suggesting both the new handsets very much continue where the last year’s excellent Galaxy S8 and S8+ left off, with a few added improvements.
This time round, Samsung is touting the capabilities of the camera on both the S9 and S9+, with its dual aperture lens that is capable of taking photos in low light and which can shoot super slow mo video.
The cameras also boast AR capabilities, with Samsung introducing its AR Emoji, the company’s answer to Apple’s Animated Emojis.
“The way we use our smartphones has changed as communication and self-expression has evolved,” said Samusng president DJ Koh
“With the Galaxy S9 and S9+, we have reimagined the smartphone camera. Not only do the Galaxy S9 and S9+ enable consumers to shoot great photos and videos anywhere, it’s a smartphone that’s designed to help them connect to others and express themselves in a way that’s unique and personal to them.”
Elsewhere there is a new stereo speaker and storage offered up to 400GB.
Oh and there’s a headphone jack.
