Samsung’s popular mid range smartphone, the Galaxy A5, will include some of the best features from Galaxy S8, Note 8 and S9, according to a new leak.
The Galaxy A5 (2018) is set to adopt the same design language as Samsung’s flagship range and will include the firm’s trademark Infinity Display.
Renders obtained by Sammobile show the new A5 with an Infinity Display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a fingerprint scanner located under the rear facing camera. There also appears to be a button to summon Bixby, Samsung’s AI assistant.
The report from Sammobile says the A5 (2018) will be launched in January 2018, following the same release pattern as Samsung did for its predecessor the A5 (2017).
The A5 (2018) is expected to sport 4GB RAM alongside Samsung’s Exynos 7885 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, with 32GB of internal storage.
The Galaxy A5 2017 has proved hugely popular in Thailand, where it typically retails for around Bt14,490.
The news comes after a report from tech tipster Evan Blass revealed that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus at CES 2018 in January, which is earlier than the release cycle typically used by the Korean firm to launch its new flagship smartphone.
Blass says that the S9 and S9 Plus will be almost identical to the design of the S8, saying the update will be iterative, describing it as more “tock” rather than a “tick”, referencing the “tick tock” dynamic used to describe Apple’s habit of alternating between a major and minor update when it releases a new iPhone.
