The W2018, Samsung’s next generation high-end flip phone has been unleashed on the Chinese market.

This market seems to demand flip phones with the Samsung W2018 being initially introduced with China Telecom.

The phone boasts some of the best features of Samsung’s leading flagship smartphones in a retro flip phone design.

The model has two Super AMOLED touchscreen displays, one on the exterior and one internally. Made from a blend of metal and glass, it comes in two colours – Elegant Gold or Platinum.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, either 64GB or 256GB storage, and a USB Type-C port. Known as the clamshell, the casing will house a fingerprint scanner and it runs on a 2300mAh battery. Android 7.1 Nougat is the OS.

The device will feature Samsung’s voice assistant Bixby for the first time on a non-Galaxy mode.

A 12MP primary camera on the phone boasts an aperture of f/1.5. Interestingly, Samsung W2018’s primary camera can switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 depending upon the light you’re shooting in.
There is a pretty standard 5MP camera located on the front that has an aperture of f.1.9.

Prices haven’t officially been announced yet but is expected to be upwards of CYN15,999 (THB80,000).

Only last year Samsung launched its SM-G9298, known as the Leadership in China and that too featured high-end specifications and features.

The bad news for users is that availability of the device is set to be limited outside of China, with as of now no news that new flip phone will be released elsewhere.
