The all new Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is quietest and most powerful hairdryer on the market – and probably the best looking too.
Sir James Dyson’s latest invention has a jet force that three times stronger than normal dryers.
On top of that, it is one of the quietest around – a blessing for any salon that has multiple dryers going at the same time.
The latest creation comes from the man who brought us the bagless vacuum and the blade free fan and the hairdryer comes with its own supersonic wave as the 13 blades run at a staggering 110,000 rpm meaning that the frequency is above the range of human hearing.
Sir James said: “Hair dryers can be heavy, inefficient and make a racket.
By looking at them further we realised that they can also cause extreme heat damage to air. I challenged Dyson engineers to really understand the science of hair and develop our version of a hair dryer, which we think solves these problems.”
The cost of developing the Dyson Supersonic is thought to have been in region of £50 million, taking 103 engineers four years to finalise. 600 prototypes were tested on more than a thousand miles of human hair at the purpose built lab at the firm’s headquarters in Wiltshire, England.
The engineers tested how hair responded to heat and airflow and recorded any damage as well as the how shiny the hair appeared afterwards.
The Dyson Supersonic will have a regular setting of 69c with a maximum heat setting of 90c for fast drying as Sir James noted that hair protein in damaged at temperatures over 150C.
The dryer is already on sale in Tokyo and will be available in the UK for the hefty price of £299 (approximately THB15,000). There is no information yet on whether the Dyson Supersonic will be available in Thailand.
