Sega release teaser for new Sonic racing game and announce Sonic Mania Plus

Sumo Digital a development house within the Japanese gaming giant Sega has recently released a teaser trailer seen below that suggests a new Sonic-themed racing game may be on the horizon, with the assumption that it could be the third entry in the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing series.

The trailer has all the hallmarks of a Sega racing game, however, a little clue near the end that shows a logo very similar to Sonic R a game released on the Sega Saturn console.

Sonic R was developed by Traveller’s Tales who are now famous for the Lego series of games, the game was released in 1997 and was poorly received by critics.

The game did not include cars, instead, Sonic and friends raced around on foot.

As the teaser seems to show cars will they be an on foot option?

In other Sega news, it was recently announced at the South by Southwest 2018 Event (SXWX) that Sonic Mania Plus and expanded version of Sonic Mania will be released.

This new updated offering will feature two new playable characters; Ray the flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo. Both of these characters have been taken from an obscure Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade Game and both had cameos in the Sonic Generations.

A new Encore mode will also be added to the Plus version, which will offer new ways to play and explore the existing levels. The multiplayer mode will also be revamped with now four player split screen as opposed to the originals too.
