Huawei has announced it will be releasing its limited edition Mate 9 Porsche Design smartphone in Thailand.
The Porsche Design Mate 9 is billed as a premium or luxury version of Huawei’s Mate 9.
While both are great phones, have similar specs and even look alike, despite the Porsche redesign, there is a massive price gap between the two devices.
The regular Mate 9 is on sale in Thailand for 23,900 baht. However, the Mate 9 Porsche Design will cost a whopping 49,900 baht, the company announced on Thursday.
Furthermore, the Huawei is only make 800 of the Mate 9 Porsche Design available in Thailand.
The Porsche version includes a 5.5 inch, 2K curved display which boasts a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440.
It also includes Huawei’s in house Kirin 960 chip alongside 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
By comparison the regular Mate 9, which also includes the Kirin 960 chip, has 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Both phones include an 8MP front facing camera, with dual 20 and 12MP cameras on the reverse, as well as a the same 4,000 mAh battery.
The only other major difference between the two phones is the size and weight, with the Porsche version slightly smaller at 5.9 inches, compared to 6.18 inches on the regular Mate 9. The premium model is also lighter weighing in at around 169 grams, compared to 190 grams with the Mate 9.
Huawei Thailand said the Mate 9 Porsche Design will be available at Huawei stores nationwide.
