The next installment of the Thailand Mobile Expo 2017 is taking place this coming weekend.
The hugely popular event is a great place to purchase the latest smartphones, smartwatches or some other new gadget at discounted prices.
The event, one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia is being held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok and is open from 28 September to 1 October, doors open 10am to 6pm.
The Convention Centre is fairly easy to find and offers plenty of parking if you are travelling by car.
Alternatively, if you are travelling by BTS, the Convention Centre has its own MRT station.
Take the BTS Skytrain to Asoke interchange and then catch the MRT to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center station. Follow exit 3 to the Center.
The Mobile Expo is actually held at various points throughout the year, normally three or four times and usually attracts around 700,000 visitors each day. From experience the Thursday and Friday are the best days to go to escape the weekend crowds.
One of the highlights of new handsets being showcased at Thailand Mobile Expo 2017 is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is available at Bt 30,900, a discount of Bt 3,000 on its current sales price elsewhere in Thailand.
The highlight from Samsung is the new Galaxy J7+ smartphone, which is great value at Bt 10,900. The J7+ was launched in Thailand earlier this month and is only the second Samsung phone to include dual camera, the other being the Galaxy Note 8.
With the arrival earlier this year of the Huawei Mate 9 and the imminent launch of the Mate 10 and Mate 9 later this and with the Huawei P11 expected to be launched early 2018, it’s perhaps little surprise that the Chinese firm have slashed the price of the P10.
The Huawei P10 will be on sale at the Mobile Expo from between Bt 10,900 – Bt 15,900, depending on which retailer you opt for. Either way, it’s a nice discount on the P10 which cost Bt 17,900 when it went on sale in Thailand in March this year.
If you’re looking for an affordable Android smartphone, you’d be hard pushed to find better than the current crop of Motorola handsets on sale in Thailand currently.
The Moto C Plus costs just Bt 4,290 and includes a quad core processor, 5 inch display, 2GB RAM and a powerful 4,000mAh battery, more than enough to get you through a whole day and beyond.
The Moto E4 and E4 Plus cost Bt 4,900 and Bt 5,990 respectively and are arguably two of the best value Android smartphones.
The handsets offer more than enough specifications of average phone use such as playing games, using social media apps and taking photos.
If you opt for the E4 Plus, which isn’t a massive jump in price, you get a 5 inch display, 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a whopping 5,000mAH battery.
The other great things about these phones is that they run near stock Android so bloatware is kept to a minimum.
Asus will also be showcasing the next version of its ever popular Zenfone series. On sale is the Asus Zenfone 4 Max Pro at Bt 7,900 and the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie at Bt 8,900.
The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie is aimed at those who like to take selfies, if you hadn’t guessed and includes a dual, front-facing cameras, including a high-resolution, 20MP main selfie camera and a 120° super wide-angle wefie camera. It’s sure to be a hit in selfie and social media obsessed Thailand.
