The ever popular Sonic the Hedgehog is making a comeback in the form of Sonic Mania that promises to be a throwback to the old Sega Mega Drive days.

Sonic has long been a character that has polarised opinion in the world of gaming being one of the most iconic characters whilst continually failing to live up to his heyday back in the 1990’s.

All this could be about to change with the launch of the new Sonic who appears to have captured some of the old magic.

The latest version of Sonic was recently revealed at Comic Con in the United States and is said to promise “to discover what made Sonic a gaming icon.”

The new version of the game will still be a 2D platform game, similar to when it was available originally, even though it is available on the powerful consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One.

Of course the game comes complete with the famous Sonic soundtrack to just add to the thrill.

Sega will no doubt be hoping that the iconic character will once again be a huge hit and can roll back the times to yesteryear.

If everything goes to plan, “Project Sonic 2017” will be released on the PS4, Xbox and Nintendo NX next year.
