Sony have announced that their new flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ will go on pre-sale in Thailand from October 14th until the 19th with a pre-order price of THB 17,990 which includes a free set of Sony headphones worth THB3,990.
The phone goes on general sale from October 28th with prices starting at THB23,900 and the device is available on True Move H.
The new phone has a 5.2 inch Full-HD 1080p display that is in a “loop surface” which Sony say makes it the perfect fit for your hand. It weighs 161 grams and is just 8.1mm thick.
The Xperia XZ is the first Sony device to feature USB Type C.
On the inside, the phone includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor alongside 3GB of RAM, while there’s a choice of 32GB or 64GB internal storage.
When it comes to the cameras, Sony’s latest smartphone features a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies, and an impressive 23MP rear camera, which is capable of recording 4K videos.
The rear camera includes Sony’s triple image sensing technology which offers better focusing and image stabilisation and should also offer improved images taken in low light.
The most unique feature of the XZ is the intelligent battery charge that won’t go beyond 90% when left plugged instead choosing to complete the charge to 100% just before it believes you are ready to use it – for example when your alarm is set.
Sony claims this helps to minimise any damage to battery cells. The intelligent battery charge controls the liquid current going into cells, which the company says will help to double the battery span life over time.
