Acer has launched what it is calling the “world’s thinnest laptop.”
The updated version of its sleek Swift 7 Ultrabook was unveiled in the run up to CES 2018, which is being held this week in Las Vegas.
The new Swift 7 is even thinner than before measuring in at just 8.98mm thick, making it the thinnest computer in the world, according to Acer.
Despite the reduction in size the Swift 7 comes with a 14 inch Gorilla Glass touch screen 1080p display, compared to the 13.3 inch display on its predecessor.
It also boasts a 10 hour battery life, along with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
Acer have also added 4G LTE connectivity but have decided to stick with the Intel Core i7 processor (Kaby Lake) processor from last year’s model, rather than go with one of the new Intel chips.
The Swift 7 will go on sale in the United States in March for $1,699. No word yet on the Thailand release date.
We’re extremely proud to make the world’s thinnest laptop even thinner with the new Swift 7,” Jerry Kao, President of IT Products Business of Acer Inc said in a press release.
“Building on the engineering breakthroughs from the previous generation, the new Swift 7 steps up the game with an even slimmer chassis, powerful performance and always-on 4G LTE connectivity for professionals on the go.”
“The next PC anyone buys should be a great PC – powerful to feed the newest, richest experiences all day long,” said Chris Walker, Vice President of Intel Corp.
“Acer’s Swift 7 delivers on the performance expectation then ups the ante with built-in 4G LTE in an ultra-thin, stunning design. It’s the perfect PC for those who have things to do and create anywhere, at any time.”
Unveiled alongside the Swift 7, Acer also introduced the Nitro 5, it’s new gaming laptop, which boasts a 15.6 inch display with 1080p resolution. It also includes the updated AMD Radeon RX560 graphics card, with RAM and SSD up to 32GB and 512GB, respectively. The Nitro 5 is set to be released in April where it will cost $799.
Finally, Acer also unveiled the Spin 3, which can be used as a tablet of laptop. Acer haven’t released full specs yet but has said it will include a 14 inch 1080p display and will cost $599 when it is launched in February.
