Thai government to create two new broadband providers

Thailand’s government is to establish two new state enterprises to help provide additional broadband services throughout Thailand.

The name of the two state enterprises will be National Broadband Network Company Limited (NBN) and Neutral Gateway and Data Center Company Limited (NGDC), the National News Bureau of Thailand reported on Tuesday.

The move comes after the cabinet had ordered CAT and TOT to setup the two new companies to provide and manage Thailand’s cable internet access.

NBN, which is owned by TOT will be responsible for fibre optic and domestic broadband, while the CAT owned NDGC will be responsible for the international broadband network and undersea cables that connect Thailand with the rest of the world.
